COURSE DESCRIPTION
Explore the cutting-edge field of synthetic biology, where biology meets engineering to design and construct new biological parts, devices, and systems. This course covers foundational concepts and techniques used in synthetic biology, including DNA synthesis, genetic circuit design, metabolic engineering, and synthetic genomics. Students will learn how to apply engineering principles to biological systems to solve real-world problems, from developing new medical therapies to creating sustainable biofuels. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on laboratory work, and collaborative projects, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to design, build, and test synthetic biological systems.
